About our founder
My name is Javan DeCarlo Sullivan Jr. I was born and raised in Smyrna, Delaware, as the third of six children. Today, I’m the proud father of three amazing boys and fortunate to be Tiffani’s husband. Growing up, youth sports in Smyrna shaped my values, work ethic, and who I am today.
I am a disabled U.S. Army veteran, having served for eight years as a 74D CBRN NCO with Infantry, Ordnance Disposal, and Aviation units. During my service at Fort Campbell, Schofield Barracks, and Fort Bliss, I made it my mission to contribute meaningfully to each community I was part of. In my free time, I maintained USA Wrestling and AAU memberships, freelancing as a wrestling coach. While stationed in Hawaii in 2011, I joined the Mililani High School wrestling team as an assistant coach, reigniting my love for team coaching and mentorship.
Guided by the influence of Hall of Fame wrestling coaches, compassionate mentors from my hometown, and the support of my military family, I launched the Olympic Sports Club (501c3) in February 2023. Operating under the name South Sound Sports Club, we hosted our first wrestling practices in 2024 and plan to resume in 2025, aiming for national competition in 2026.
While training athletes is a key goal, our deeper mission is to serve and uplift veterans. Inspired by John 15:13, where Jesus says, “Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends,” we honor the sacrifices of those who served. Many veterans return from service carrying invisible wounds or grieving fallen comrades, leaving a void that is hard to fill.
South Sound Sports Club seeks to strengthen the veteran community through mentorship programs, peer counseling, housing assistance, OTH discharge aid, women veterans' support groups, and general VA assistance. Our mission is not just to build better athletes but to help veterans rebuild their lives, create bonds, and find renewed purpose. Together, we aim to bring hope and healing to those who served.

The Mrymidon Warrior.
The Myrmidon warriors were an elite group of soldiers in Greek mythology, famously led by the hero Achilles during the Trojan War. According to legend, they were known for their exceptional loyalty, discipline, and fighting prowess. The Myrmidons were said to have originated from ants, transformed into humans by zeus in response to a plea from King Aeacus to repopulate his kingdom. This mythological origin reflects their reputation for being fiercely united and unwaveringly loyal, much like ants in a colony, making them formidable and highly respected warriors in ancient Greek lore.
We chose the Myrmidon warrior as our mascot to symbolize our unwavering dedication to the communities we serve. Our mission extends beyond fostering success in our student-athletes; we are equally committed to supporting our local community and honoring those who have served our nation. The Myrmidon’s loyalty and strength reflect our values as we strive to make a lasting impact both on and off the mat.
